Plant Care

Bare root Perennials
Open box(s) immediately.  It is beneficial to soak roots in water for 15 minutes but not longer, before
    potting or planting outside.
Most plants are shipped while dormant and top foliage has been cut back. This is not harmful to plants.  The ideal soil
growing temperature is 50-55 degrees.  This helps stimulate root growth and not foliage growth.

Never store plants in any dark basement, shed or garage for more than a couple of hours.
Never expose box of plants to direct sunlight or heat.
Never expose box of plants to freezing temperatures.
The temperature for a potted plant is at least 20 degrees colder than one in the ground.
    Keep soil moist, not drenched.
Most plants prefer well drained organic type soil.  Drainage is critical to survival.
Do not take your plants from 73 degrees in the house, to 25 degrees outside.  Acclimatize to the outdoor world for
at least 10 days.  Protect your plants from weather extremes of both cold and heat.

Perennials are hardy tough plants and usually will survive given water and that their roots are not frozen,
fried (heat), or drown to death.

    Bulbs/Others
Always keep bulbs in a cool dry place with ventilation.
If storing bulbs in refrigerator to chill, do not store with fruit.
Canna rhizomes should be planted immediately and not allowed to dry out.
