                                      Plant Care

If you want your plants to perform at their best and live for years the best
thing you can do is amend the soil.  Our gardens have thrived because we
amended the soil heavily before planting.  Adding compost to your soil is
the best thing you can do for the plant.  Mix the compost in at least
12 inches deep.  Organic compost is the best, potting soil and potting mix
are not compost.

Getting plants established:
All plants, even those that are very drought tolerant take time to establish
in their new location.  It takes times for the current roots to adjust to their
new environment and for new roots to develop and reach a suitable size.
Many drought tolerant plants can take up to one year, especially those
with a long tap root, to get established.  This means you need to water that
drought tolerant plant on a regular basis until it becomes established and
can then perform with less water the following years.

Redding Full Sun Plants:
Our gardens are mostly in full sun.  We highly recommend if you are buying
a plant for the Redding area for a full sun location that the plant states Full
Sun
only on the label.  We have found most plants that say Full Sun, Part
Shade means it needs to have shade and particularly from our hot afternoon
sun.  It is important that during our scorching summers that you water your
plants regularly and deeply.  We have found using a drip system is the best.
Plant your $5 plant in a $50 hole!
I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow.  7 So neither he who plants nor he
who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.
