Salvia is easy to grow in almost any climate.  
Though it is drought tolerant it will bloom
better with regular watering.  Deadheading
encourages longer bloom time.

Salvia n. 'May Night' produces dense deep purple
flowers spikes on aromatic green-gray oblong leaves.  
This variety is has a nice clumping habit.  Starts
blooming in early summer and continues if deadheaded.
